Armed Robbery at Margate

Approximately 4.45am a home on Channel Highway, Margate was forcefully entered by three men, one of whom was in possession of a firearm.

The sole male occupant of the home was forced to the floor at gunpoint. The residence was searched by the offenders and a quantity of cash and jewellery was stolen. The 59 year old occupant was not physically injured during the incident.

Police believe the offenders left the residence via the rear of the property to a vehicle waiting in the vicinity of the Margate Primary School.

At 6.05am a blue Mazda 3 sedan was reported to be on fire in the Peter Murrell Reserve off Lady Penryhn Drive. The vehicle had been stolen from an address at Blackmans Bay overnight and it is suspected it may have been used by the offenders to travel to Margate.
