Approach to student investigated
On Wednesday 15 May 2013 Ulverstone Police received a report that a female student had been approached by a male person on Leighlands Avenue in Ulverstone.
Police are investigating a report that the male, driving a newer model black utility with a hard cover, approached the student on Leighlands Avenue at about 8.30am.
The male asked the 12 year old girl to get into this vehicle. When the student refused, it is alleged the male person got out of the vehicle after which the student ran from the area. Information suggests that she was not followed.
The male person is described as wearing a dark hoodie (with the hood pulled up) and dark sunglasses with little or no facial hair.
Police would like to talk to anybody who may have witnessed this incident or seen a vehicle matching the description in the area at the time.
This incident is not linked to a report in Devonport last week, in which a man approached an 11 year old child outside the Devonport Sports Stadium. The child walked away and was not followed. Devonport CIB is following a specific line of inquiry in relation to the incident.
