Police have this morning recovered the body of a deceased elderly woman from the foreshore near Mitcham Ave in Claremont in the state’s South.

Anyone who may have seen an elderly lady in the cliff top area between lunchtime Saturday and this morning is asked to make contact with police.

She was wearing grey trousers/leggings and a light-coloured hooded top.

Detectives, forensics officers and search and rescue officers have all been on scene today.

No formal identification has taken place at this stage.
