Around midday on Saturday 16 January 2016, the Tasmania Fire Service, Forestry Tasmania and Tasmania Police responded to a number of grass and vegetation fires alongside the Tasman Highway between Launceston and Scottsdale.

The fires appear to have been deliberately lit and police are appealing for any witnesses or people with information regarding the fires to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
