Another recruit course for 2013

The Commissioner of Police has approved a second Recruit Course for 2013.

The second course will begin in October; three months after the start of the first course.  The recruits for the second course will be selected from the applications received earlier this year.

“We are pleased to be in a position to offer a second recruit course for 2013, to return our establishment of officers to 1,120,” said the Commissioner of Police, Darren Hine.

Expressions of Interest will not re-open for general applicants at this stage.  However, Recruiting staff will continue to receive applications from people with previous police experience in either Tasmania or interstate, for consideration of entry into a 'fast track' program.

The July intake of 25 recruits will be confirmed by the end of this week with all successful applicants being notified by Friday 28 June 2013.

“These recruits will begin their 28 weeks of training at the Tasmania Police Academy on 29 July, graduating at the end of February 2014,” said Mr Hine.

“All recruits have been through a selection process to determine their suitability for a career in policing, including integrity checks and physical tests, as well as tests of their problem solving and conflict resolution skills,” said the Commissioner of Police, Darren Hine.
