Alleged Assault – Despard Street, Hobart – (9 Jan)
About 2.20am on Thursday, 9 January 2014 police and ambulance responded to the report of an unconscious woman in Despard Street, Hobart near Mobius.
The 21 year old woman was conveyed to the Royal Hobart Hospital for treatment and was later found to have a fracture to the rear of her skull. The woman is expected to make a full recovery and be released from hospital today.
Witnesses alleged that the woman fell to the ground after being slapped or hit by a man at that location. It is apparent that when she fell to the ground that she struck the back of her head on the roadway. Police have since obtained CCTV footage of the incident.
Police are seeking further witnesses who may have witnessed the incident and have released an image of persons who were seen walking up Murray Street shortly after the incident.
