Aggravated Home Burglary George Town
George Town Police have charged two people relating to an Aggravated Burglary incident in the very early hours of this morning.
At approximately midnight on Sunday 6 October 2013 two men knocked on the door of a house in Franklin Street, George Town.
When the resident opened the door, it’s alleged one of the men pushed his way inside, assaulted him and demanded money. The resident was able to get away and locked himself in a room.
It’s alleged the two offenders took money and property from the house, and drove away.
Police were alerted to the incident and as a result of information received, searched two George Town addresses. A 16 year old youth and a 19 year old man have been chrged with various offences.
The 19 year old will appear in Launceston Magistrates Court and the 16 year old will be proceeded against under the provisions of the Youth Justices Act.
The 19 year old resident of the house received minor injuries and attended the Launceston General Hospital but was later discharged.
George Town Police would like to speak with anyone who witnessed or has any information about the incident.
