Aggravated Carjacking in New Town
A 36 year old New Town man has been charged following an incident at a unit in Clare Street, New Town this morning.
Around 2am on Sunday 13 October, police allege the man broke into the unit, threatened the occupants with a knife and stole their vehicle.
The occupants of the unit were not injured.
A short time later police allege the man rammed the stolen car into a police vehicle and he was safely arrested. He was charged with numerous offences including aggravated burglary, aggravated car jacking and evade police, and was detained in custody.
The man will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.
