Aggravated Assault East Devonport
About 5.50pm on Friday 1 March 2013 the sole occupant of a black Toyota utility towing a large boat was approached by a male offender in a car park off Murray Street East Devonport. The male offender entered the passenger side of the vehicle after covering his face and told the driver to follow a white utility in front of them.
The male produced what is believed to be a shortened firearm and threatened the driver. The driver did as he was instructed and a short distance up Murray Street, threw himself from the vehicle which came to a stop nearby without incident.
About this time there was a shot fired which did not cause any injury to either occupant. The offender fled on foot toward Tarleton Street and the driver was assisted by bystanders, police attended a short time later.
The driver sustained minor injuries as a result of throwing himself from the vehicle at low speed.
The offender is described as mid 30’s black messy curly hair, skinny build with a tattoo on his inner left forearm. He was wearing pale blue jeans and a hooded multi-coloured jacket. His face was covered with black material.
Police would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
