Advice to residents – Scenic Hill Road dam
A structural issue has been identified with the Scenic Hill Road Dam in Huonville, and Tasmania Police have advised a number of residents in Huonville to relocate as a precaution.
A leak was identified in the wall of the Scenic Hill Road Dam this morning. The Huon Valley Council and Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment are assessing the problem.
However, as a precautionary measure Police and SES have informed down stream residents who may be affected that they should leave their homes until the dam is determined to be safe.
The farm dam, which is on private land, is approximately one hectare in size.
Residents have been asked not to return home for the rest of the day; Police will advise when it is safe for residents to return to their homes.
A Recovery Centre has been established at the Huon Valley Police and Community Youth Club to assist any residents who have been temporarily displaced.
