Devonport CIB detectives have today arrested and charged a 39 year old Devonport man with the abduction and rape of a 12 year old girl which occurred at Latrobe on 6 May 2014.

Detective Inspector Kim Steven said, “This investigation has been ongoing since the incident occurred.  As a result of recent information we received, police conducted a search of a house in Devonport this morning and arrested a 39 year old man.”

The man appeared in Devonport Magistrates Court at 7PM tonight charged with;

Forcible Abduction, Rape x 3, Aggravated Sexual Assault x 3, Indecent Assault x 2.

Detective Inspector Steven said, “We have notified the victim and her family of the arrest.”
