On Tuesday the 18/6/2013, Tasmania Police Marine officers intercepted a man with a large quantity of illegally taken abalone meat in the Launceston area.

The intercept is the result of a targeted operation by marine officers, with assistance and information provided by other jurisdictions.

The man, from NSW, was found in possession of a commercial quantity of green lip and black lip abalone meat.

He has been questioned and will be proceeded against by summons.  Investigations are continuing.
