20 year old male rescued from Elizabeth Street Pier, Hobart.

At 1.20am on Sunday 23 February 2020, Police were informed that a person had fallen in to the water at the end of the Elizabeth Street Pier. On arrival Police were met with an early 20’s male who had stumbled off the end of the wharf into the water. He was clearly disoriented and struggling to stay above water. Fortunately, volunteers from the Salvos Street Team had procured a life ring from the nearby Windeward Bound, which was proving difficult for the male to hold on to.

Two police officers entered the water and assisted the male to stay afloat whilst a rescue plan was enacted. Shortly later, the male was helped from the water and transported directly to the Royal Hobart Hospital for medical assistance. Although exhausted and disoriented, it is anticipated that he will make a full recovery.
