2 x drivers involved in separate crashes – High range drink driving
Police were kept busy on Friday night attending to 2 x separate crashes involving drivers’ driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
At 6:29pm a 22-year-old male from Hillwood crashed his Subaru station wagon into two unoccupied parked cars on George Street in the Launceston CBD. Police attended and it was obvious the male was affected by alcohol.
The male returned a high range drink driving reading of .132%. No persons were injured, and the male was taken to the Launceston General Hospital for a medical assessment.
The male is to be proceeded against and will appear in due course in front of a Magistrate.
Later that evening at 11:08pm police attended the report of another crash involving a 52-year-old female from Perth. The female driver collided with a traffic light at the intersection of Elphin Road and Hoblers Bridge Road, then hit a parked unoccupied vehicle coming to a stop in Olive Street Newstead.
Her vehicle a silver Honda sustained extensive damage. The driver sustained no injuries. The 52-year-old female was clearly affected by alcohol. The driver returned a high-range reading of .166%. The female was subsequently arrested and bailed to appear at the Launceston Magistrates Court.
