1st year provisional driver detected travelling at 152km/h

At approximately 11pm on Saturday 18 January 2014, police officers from the Western District Support Division were conducting speed checks on the Bass Highway at Rocky Cape.

At this time they detected a vehicle driven by a 19 year old Ulverstone female, who held a first year provisional licence, speeding at 152km/h, 72km/h higher than her permitted speed limit of 80km/h.

The 19 year old female’s vehicle was clamped for 28 days and she will receive a summons to attend court in the near future.  She faces a minimum penalty of 4 months disqualification and a $900 fine.

This manner of driving presents immeasurable risks to all road users.  Drivers who speed should take this as a reminder that there are police officers working around the clock, often in isolated areas.  If you choose to speed, you will get caught.
