17-year-old charged with dangerous driving
A 17-year-old boy has been charged following a dangerous driving incident on the Southern Outlet last night.
The provisional license holder was detected driving in excess 160km/h in a 100km/k zone about 8.00pm last night before being intercepted and subsequently failing a roadside drug test.
He was arrested, his license was immediately disqualified and his vehicle was seized.
The youth will appear in court on several driving and drug-related charges at a later date.
Inspector Dean McMahon said police are disgusted and appalled with the dangerous driving behaviour, the risk this poses is unacceptable.
“Tasmania Police is committed to keeping our roads safe and value any assistance from the community.”
“We encourage the community to continue reporting incidents of dangerous driving immediately to police on 131 444, or if it’s an emergency or life-threatening situation, ring Triple Zero (000).”
